Yuck, you say. C’mon, you don’t have to use viral marketing to get people to buy more crap. You can use it to get people to recycle more trash, use more sustainable energy, travel more with public transportation or vote for your favorite candidate.

If you don’t like the word ‘marketing’, just call it ‘viral advocacy’. It’s all about memetic engineering, and it’s not going to go away.
